It’s a one-day event that brings together the creators that make the comic books (both professional and independents) and the people that reads these comics. Through the San Pablo Comics Festival we hope to introduce the general public to this rich history as well as showcase the works of successful comic book professionals working both here and abroad and the art of bright new talents in the field of sequential storytelling.

This year’s Festival was held on a Saturday December 3, 2011 at ULTIMART in San Pablo City, Laguna accompanied by the Komikero Art Exhibit running from December 2-4, 2011.

The Art Exhibit

The art exhibit featured original art and reproduction of artworks from veteran comic book artists as well as new work from the Komikero Artist Group.

It is one of the biggest attractions of the The San Pablo Comics Festival. The exhibit, which enjoyed brisk foot traffic from mall goers, aims to make the general public aware of the rich history of Philippine Comics as well as the groundbreaking work being done by the new generation of Komikeros.

It also hopes to become a source of inspiration for other aspiring artists.

The Festival

The festival formally opened at around 10:30 via a ribbon cutting ceremony led by Gerry Alanguilan with Sir Nick, representing the ULTIMART Administrative Group.

The art contest was immediately underway with excited kids signing up as early as 9:00 AM. While the kids was busy drawing the whole day was peppered with Johnny's hourly trivia contest, inspirational interview with the special guests, and a panel discussion with the motley crew of attending comic book creators.

The night was capped off by an amazing acoustic performance from local San Pablo City talent, Walk Me Home.
